Sweden’s northernmost city, Kiruna lies 145 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, in the heartland of Saami culture. An ideal location from which to view the spectacular Northern Lights, Kiruna is home to the famous Icehotel and also plays host to the annual Snow Games at the end of January, which includes reindeer racing and an ice sculpture contest. The winter snows and frozen lakes also provide the perfect setting for cross-country skiing, dog sledding and snowmobile safaris.
